It's been quite the year. This blog started in a dorm room, as a result of an impulsive decision. On the 16th of February, 2016, I clicked the publish button. Everyone makes impulsive decisions - but I may be the only one who doesn't regret it. Since then, this blog has featured the likes of the The Hinchas y Jugadores project, which (tried) to bring fans, writers, footballers and coaches together. And it blew up - I ended up interviewing ex-Barcelona players, a footballer with three consecutive league titles, the assistant technical director of Rayo Vallecano, an Ipswich legend, and the nephew of Juan Sabas. Not to mention the fact that fans of Segunda B clubs came on board - yes, Burgos and Real Jaén have fans, and Ponferradina had more than one! Someone actually wrote over 2,500 words about the Barcelona Femení team. UCAM Murcia, a team that were in the sixth tier a decade ago, had a fan too. How long have you been a fan of Burgos and what made you support them in the first place? I've been fan of Burgos since I was 11 years old. I support the club because it's the team of my city and because I like to watch to football matches inside the stadium, not in front of the TV. Describe your first experience of watching Burgos play? But seven years earlier, Eibar gave a Segunda chance to a 31-year-old player who had never played in the professional leagues. This is a story of perseverance, dedication, and the rarity of opportunity. This is the story of Raúl García Fernández. He is one of the Segunda B's greatest ever players. The third best, some would say - he has played 42539 minutes in the third tier, the third most in the league. It all started in the 1994-95 season, in the ranks of Real Unión de Irún in the Segunda B. Gonzalo Arconada gave him his debut, and at the age of just 18 he was already a regular starter. Sergio Asecas is 19 years old and was born in Burgos. He studies Audiovisual Communication there and loves the city, and that translates into love for the club. Just to clarify, he supports Burgos CF, the team founded in 1922, disappeared in 1983 and refounded in 1994, which is nowadays the main team in the city of Burgos. Real Burgos is the historical team that reached the first division in the 90’s, founded in 1983 - it stopped playing when Burgos CF was refounded, but it started to compete again a few years ago, playing nowadays in a lower category.
